This is my child's final year here, and we are pretty excited for that. I have noticed in the last 2 years the quality of teaching staff seems to be slipping a bit. There are still great teachers here, but some are not very good at all. The principal can seem disinterested when you bring issues to his attention. My child had a great experience here from K-3, 4th and 5th grades were a struggle. Not an academic or behavioral struggle, just not meshing well with an instructor's teaching style and the disrespectful things they say to the kids when they get upset. I was shocked at what my child told me teachers had said to him & his class. When I talked to the principal about it, he just said he couldn't see a teacher saying that, despite other parents and students talking to him about similar issues also. Another huge issue is the pick-ups & drop offs. You have parents that completely disregard the rules as far as where they can park, which makes driving your child to/from school a nightmare.(be prepared to get to school an hour before your child is released in order to get a spot, even the crossing guard will park illegally over the crosswalk!) Calls to the principal & liaison officer are ignored. Overall, we were happy here, and felt our child was in a safe environment, but this last year we couldn't be more excited to have our child be off to the middle school. This year as a whole just seems really chaotic to our child and to us- not exactly a great learning environment. We did not have any of these issues when my older child went here, so I'm not sure what has happened in the last 2 years. I really hope they make some improvements with some staff, take parent complaints more seriously & perhaps a parking lot monitor, or expanding the parking lot would make a huge difference.
