Went with Radtke Chimneys because they were about $100 cheaper than The Chimney Guy and other local competition.
It was hard for them to access my chimney due to its location and I suspect that's why they only took a few photos to inspect the chimney without completing a full cleaning. The photos produced looked good from the roof so they did not clean the chimney.
The chimney had obvious signs of creosote in the fireplace box with level 1 and 2 present, additionally soot falls every time the damper is opened.
The company was able to point out a few modifications that should be made to comply with code and was able to answer a question about the fiberglass liner for the doors to the fireplace; however, the answers to most of my questions where answered in a lawyer like manner and did not address the question.
I was told home inspectors always state the chimney should be cleaned as a matter of policy. I feel my chimney was not cleaned because it would be difficult with the position of the chimney. Overall with level 1 and 2 creosote present at the fireplace box I feel they should have cleaned the chimney and box. Ultimately you get what you pay for.
