Oh my gosh. I didn't have the greatest experience there. First, there is no room at all for anyone that has to wait for seating. You literally have to stand against a wall because the space between where you have to stand and the bar where people are sitting is barely enough space for the wait staff to get through. They have to walk sideways through this very tight space. It is a tight, uncomfortable wait to get a table. On top of the long wait, I was insulted by one of the workers there. I won't get into that but he was very rude. I wanted to walk out because of that, but my sister insisted we stay. So I did. After almost an hour waiting, we got a table. Ordered our food. I don't know what all the hype is about this place. My breakfast was like every other place I've been to. Nothing special about this place at all. The garbage plate looked gross. Not sure how anyone would even want to eat it. When you're done eating, don't expect to get the bill. You have to squeeze past everyone and get your bill. Once you pay your bill, then you have to walk sideways past all the people waiting and the people sitting at the bar, to leave. It's not worth it. I will never go there again.
Awesome breakfast!!! The cooks and servers love humor and sarcasm. The food and experience are worth the wait, but arrive early. At noon, they ring a large bell and offers customers (age 21+) a free shot of tequila to celebrated the noon hour with their employees. This historic diner was mentioned on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives show. Many famous people have eaten their over the years. The Garbage Plate is more than enough food to share with one to two more people.
