If you are looking for a hotel with a kitchenette, I would not recommend going here unless you are willing to bringing along most of what you need to make a basic meal like spaghetti. They provide you with a plastic container with pots and pans and a couple of spoons but that is it! You don't even get any soap to wash the pans yet you are expected to bring them back to the front desk clean. There is also no pool. The best they can offer is a pass to the local Y to which one has to drive. Breakfast is mediocre. On a positive note, the staff is friendly.
This is a good, clean, affordable hotel with a good hot breakfast (a basic requirement for us). It's in a good location to get to House on the Rock as well as Madison proper. It really only loses a start because the mattress in our room restricted blood flow to my arms when sleeping in my side. Otherwise everything else was as one might hope for the price.
My husband was having an afternoon procedure at a local clinic. We needed a local hotel room for privacy purposes to prep for the exam, since we live with other people. We chose this Best Western due to the fact that we could request a late check out. We called the hotel about a week before to confirm what we saw on our reservation confirmation. We were told it depended on availability when we actually checked in. So, we asked at check-in and was told no problems. But lo and behold, we had the housekeeper knocking at our door ten minutes before normal checkout. We told her we had late check out confirmed. A few minutes later the housekeeper manager was at the door saying we had to leave. We went down to desk and discovered that they were not honoring our request despite all the steps we had taken. We left not pleased. However, room and decor were pleasant and updated. Hot breakfast was good, and it was nice to have a 24 hour coffee and tea bar for free.
