Dr. Rapkin uses high pressure sales tactics, and his support staff is uninformed. They are so busy that they can't handle the volume of people that are going in and out of their doors. I was misinformed on several occasions, and fed up after such a large investment, I filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs. Finally, someone listened to what I had to say! I was asked to come in and discuss the complaint, and I brought my husband because I never once felt comfortable in that office (be that due to sales pressure, rudeness, misinformation, or a factory style in and out kind of atmosphere). Rapkin was very accusatory towards his staff (calling them in to question), to me (asking if I realized how much extra work this made and if I knew how much that would cost him), and it was an awkward situation all around. He did reimburse my money, but I can guarantee that the only thing that changed from this situation is the contract that you sign when beginning treatment (as he told me this taught him that). Weird and disturbing. Don't go here! To add on, I recently read Kitty Streicher's response to a concerned potential client about the poor Vitality reviews out there that I take issue with. She mentioned that it's not their fault when they invest in and care about patient health more than the patient. I am very upset by that assumption as I cared very much then and still do. I managed to get control of myself with sensible and balanced clean eating, joining a CrossFit gym, tracking everything I do, and surrounding myself with supportive people. The truth is that it's hard work. I had an issue with unreasonable (meaning I couldn't do it forever) diet restrictions, 500 calorie a day diets, Lipo/B12 injections, lots of staff turnover, Rapkin's sales tactics, the fact that no one seemed genuine (aside from one acupuncturist, though I forget his name), and lots of misinformation from a dieting perspective, how the program works, and what I needed to be successful. That has nothing to do with me or the effort that I wished to put in, regardless of what Dr. Rapkin's girlfriend (wife - fiancé?) wants to put out there. I say this for myself and every other person who has written a poor review on here. Here's what I've learned, and I do hope you please consider before signing any kind of contract with Vitality: Weight loss is hard work. There are no quick fixes, nor do you see instant results. Whatever you choose to commit to, make sure that it's something you can do forever. A restricted 500 calorie a day diet with fat burning injections and weekly acupuncture is probably not it. While I believe in acupuncture, one of the reasons I tried this regiment, I do not believe in any other thing they "sell". Eat sensibly and clean, find a workout routine that works for you (I love CrossFit and HIIT because I've learned that weight loss is also about gaining strength and confidence), and commit for the long haul. Please do not buy into this scam based on sale tactics of scaring potential patients. Dr. Rapkin is a medical joke, his staff uneducated in this industry (Kitty Streicher is a former teacher, not someone meant to be doling out medical advice and treatments), and the program is just not a feasible lifestyle change. Smart and sensible is best! You will be more proud of yourself when your hard work has paid off.
Reading some of these negative reviews makes me feel I must share my experiences with seeing Dr. Rapkin. I went to him for acupuncture for back pain. He was up front about the length and number of treatments he thought it would take not only to relieve the pain but to correct the problem. His authoritative style was just what I needed to move forward and committ to a treatment plan. After two visits per week for 8 weeks I have no more back pain. I highly recommend Dr. Rapkin
